We had a very complex set of heating problems with a bespoke high end diesel underfloor system. We had so many engineers come out, that scratched their heads that didn't want the job, or that they wanted to replace it. We we’re recommended from other firms and had heard that Ian McDermond was the guy we really needed to talk to. Unlike other firms who charged us nearly 1000 dollars to come and quote, and couldn't understand the issues, Ian came out to our rural property and gave us a thorough assessment and report. From the moment he arrived he knew exactly what system it was, and within minutes had diagnosed a major fault that had tripled our fuel bills over winter. Ian is a specialist in Diesel systems which is rare in Auckland. Ian spent several hours finding a whole range of problems, he wrote us a full report for the landlord and ourselves. My wife Barbara and I (both elderly pensioners), very recently experienced a very distressing water supply problem. A major leak, but the water was still flowing. The fault had occurred overnight 29th /30th December 2020, and was an underground burst Water main problem, inside our property... I had clambered under the house to try to locate the leak. The fracture could not be seen, but the flooding under the foundations was obvious! We shut off the Council Meter Tap & frantically called the Emergency Plumbing, 24/7 Helpline. It was of course at the time when the whole country closes down for the usual Christmas/New Year holiday period and 24/7 simply meant that they answer the phone and list the problem. It was not until the morning of Thursday 31st, that the plumber Corban and his Teammate appeared. They located the leak. It was partway under our concrete driveway. The Job required concrete cutting equipment etc and could not even be temporarily repaired until the 6th January 2021. We had to conserve what limited freshwater we had by way of a full bath, washing machine, 250 Litre garden tank and buckets, etc for storage. It was rather like we used to do when camping. We were able to last out. Thanks to the cooperation of our dear neighbors Julie and Bede. The Job was finally completed on 11th January. The cost, considering the time involved, we dreaded to think. The Invoice arrived on the 20th & to our pleasant surprise, the charges were very reasonable. Especially when the hours involved the plumbing Team put in and the materials necessary were taken into account. So thanks McDermond Plumbing Team for your pleasant, efficient, effective staff workmanship and the final charges. NOTE: The holiday period aside, the overall service was excellent...
